Thanks for your thoughts
Daughter No.2 arrived in Christchurch last Thursday to start a no doubt brilliant course of study in law. Got back home today, Hall of residence blown to bits, no idea when the university will reopen. As she said "when you have a ten storey library and all the books fall off the shelves, it takes a wee while to get it all sorted"
The constant news on tv is getting a bit depressing, so many sad storey's, so much destruction in a major city.
But hey we're Kiwis, we'll work through it [ but by **** I'm glad it wasn't any closer] Stopped the old clock in my house, and we're 5 hours drive from Christchurch.

There are little bits of the motherland all over the place...me for instance.
I hope you guys are ok too! 5 hours away and still had that much force? Bloody hell TK. I'm glad your girl got out ok.
I heard on the radio news earlier that some ****** over here was saying how the disaster in NZ will "further damage North Queensland's tourism industry". Fu#k me, it's a bit early to be worrying about that isn't it?? That really boiled my p!ss.
Good luck guys!!

Once again guys thanks for your kind thoughts. Ain't no way this thing is gonna pass quickly thou. Christchurch is the biggest city in the South Island and the pictures coming out over the last 24 hrs are really showing the CBD totally destroyed.
Those poor buggers had a big quake back in September, massive damage but no loss of life, were starting to get back into the rebuild. and now this. They are further behind than they started from and this time with the quake coming in the middle of the day unfortunately an escalating death toll.
**** it must have been scary. My daughter is still a bit jumpy whenever a truck drives up our street; that low frequency rumble.

This is a pretty good synopsis of what we've seen over the last few days.
