Don't those tank bags have straps that run beneath the tank? Maybe it moved and pinched the little hose that comes off of the vent.

woofer if not mistaken you have a gen one , it haapenned to me when the carbs get too hot i beleive that the gaz in the carbs get evry volatile and the mix is not good anymore, when i get stuck in trafic to long, at one point it behaves as if i was on the end of the reserve even though my thank is full. don't forget, the carbs are right in the way of all the heat of the motor and the motor is fully enclosed..

My two cents

Dragon, I think you hit the nail on the head.

It acted exactly like I had run out of gas, though I had plenty

Thanks

Don't duck behind a tree the next time - cool the carbs down instead

I'd check the vac situation with the tank too and the internal petcock screen.

There is a sweet spot in the gas cap where you can drill if the tank vent
is rusted closed or blocked somehow

+1 on Dragons suggestion, our bikes get very hot under the tank and seat. Out of interest, did the fuel gauge return to normal when you got her going again?

Yes, 'Hawk. It did return to normal.

@ Srock. Cooling the carbs on the side of the road in the method suggested might draw undue attention from the State Patrol. I try to avoid their scrutiny whenever, wherever possible
