88 cbr1000f hurricane no start
I have a 1988 cbr1000f and I’ve been doing work on her I bought her about six months ago and had the chain tensioner break and lock up the bike well I got it changed but burnt up the starter trying to get it to crank but have replaced it then I broke the housing on the alternator but also have replaced it and I’ve replaced the starter solenoid now I’m having an issue with it turning over it sounds like the starter is turning and I can look inside the alternator and see it turning but it’s not turning the motor over what could be my issue
are you positive you have a good battery?
To verify the starter is at least the most basic functioning, remove it from the bike and with a set of jumper cables hook the ground clamp to the casing and touch the hot clamp to the hot lug. This assumes the other end is connected to a good battery. When you do this l, if the starter is good it will engage the solenoid should engage and the starter will turn.

The starter and battery are good I’ve checked both of them before putting starter in before I replaced the alternator I had her running but then she quit like she locked up I can put it in sixth gear and can’t turn the back tire any I had this problem when I first started working on her and I had to remove my clutch and take a pry bar and break the motor free for it to turn so when I get home today ima do the same as I did before and see if I can free up the motor just not sure what keeps locking it down like it is
It's funny because I'm think that if we could see and hear it happening, it would be the perfect situation for a Zoom meeting with a bunch of people (forum members) on the call and the person with the issue would be the presenter with a hand held camera like a mobile phone or GoPro or something... Sometimes my mind wonders a little... LOL.
Sounds like the dreaded Alternator Damper (Part 7). Vigorous use of the starter motor (as you have done) eventually causes this part to fail.
