Default 87-88 Fuel Pump Removal

Just wanting to know if this is an option. I see all the other bikes pump-less, and I didnt know if the 87 was capeable of having it being removed.

i have not needed to try it myself, but our bikes work just fine w/o the pump, just let gravity do its thing.

I kind of answered my own question. the fuel is under the carbs on these bikes, theres no way the fuel can come from the bottom of the tank, to the bottom of the carbs, and still get sucked into the engine.

i have seen 3 different 87-88 hurricane 1000's that had their fuel pump removed, so unless your carbs are sitting on top of your tank this will work. the carbs are below the lowest point on the tank, just bypass the pump and see for yourself.

im sure the people at honda put the pump on for a reason. if your running anywhere near wot thats a lot of fuel to be gravity bleeding.

try it and find out. i know of 3 bikes running right now without a pump, and yes sometimes at WOT.

Hey gays, My CBR's fuel pump stopped working today at DMV after I registered. Then I removed fuel pump and drove back home about 20 miles without any problem. FYI...

any wide open throttle passes?

My bike is now leaking coolant, a friend dumped it, so, i cant use it much..

would you mind running it around the blocks a few times with some highway passes at WOT to insure it wont be needed?

TylerC161, I will try that tomorrow. Brand new fuel pump costs $145. If the pump will be needed, I will try generic electrical pump, however I learned the origial pump has integrated relay in it....
