Default 1995 cbr1000 heavy, bar issue

New here, hi all- just got a 1995 cbr1000f, perfect! comfy, beutiful, smooth, but to darn heavy! any way to lighten without spending money(wife issue)? Would it be unsafe to move the bars up past the stoppers and push them out a bit? did I mention its heavy? Legs get hot?

mlatrella - it's called using your body. The cbr is a big bike and not as light on its feet as its later designs. get your **** off the seat and push that knee out, chicken strips will disappear and you will love the stability when you lean it over. Good luck!

I agree...its a totally awesome bike and you will learn to become one with it. Although I will agree, its pig at times in the city for getting around!! Just muscle it up [:@]

Yep, heavy in town, but great at speed. Grow into it.

+1 on the "pig" comment. At least it is a pig with *****!

I have seen in some magazines some extensions or raisers, do those help at all? do they aid in the racing type position? just wondering.

Try adjusting the back suspension, it can make the bike feel a little different in cornering.

You could install some bar risers (Genmar makes some good looking ones) and they will allow you to sit upright a bit more (they raise the bars 3/4"). This is nice for comfort, but as far as aiding in the "sporting position" as you put it, no they will not improve that. True sport bikes have very low clip on bars and pegs higher than you find on the 1kf.
