Default 1989 f-j Exhaust downpipes - stainless??

Hi folks

Just going over some of the cosmetics on my '89 f-j and thought my downpipes were looking a bit rusty, on having a proper look they aren't rusty but discoloured. I used a bit of Autosol and the spots I polished came up beautifully, they are stainless not chromed steel, are stainless downpipes standard or has someone put these on as aftermarket add-ons. Fairing off this weekend and proper cleanup job on these pipes methinks!!

Cheers, Steve

Yep ... when I spoke to the guys at Sandy Bike Spares last year, they only made headers for the Gen 2 and Gen 3 1kf's, but assured me that they were in the process of developing a set for the Gen 1 ... looks like they did it in the end, cos they are now advertising them on Fleabay ..... from what I understand, the original mild steel collector boxes rotted very quickly.... probably why yours (and mine) now have replacement stainless ones .... no idea who might have made them tho ...
