1200 miles this weekend
Installed new chain, (removed original, 23k miles), fit some sheepskin seat covers on top of the Corbin and pointed it south. Me and the Mrs. rode out of Cincinnati, Oh to Atlanta, Ga. Departed ATL on Sunday afternoon and round-aboutly made our way to Smokey Mtn. Park. Going thru the park this morning was great. What a way to start your day. On to home with perfect weather the whole trip. Bike was great but some of our old bones don't travel as well as they used to. Still grinin! Anyone else put some miles on a 1000F this past weekend?

RE: 1200 miles this weekend
Did a 300 miler down the coast to check a friend's holiday home for flood damage.
FJR1300 is no match for a CBR1000F..........Perfect weather all morning.
No problem except left elbow - old torn ligaments gave me some stick towards the end. Upcoming weekend I get to visit with buddies from the Highway Dragons at their annual rally.

Hey Shadow- FJR1300 is no match for the CBR1000F. We met a couple guys at a gas stop, one was on a FJR. He made comments to that but I discounted them. My thinking was the FJR is a well sorted out machine. 10-15 years newer, 1300cc, fuel injected and great suspension and ergo's. Are you talking a drag race or roll-on contest or what? I don't have the coin for a new bike, but if I replace the CBR the FJR would be a front runner.

RE: 1200 miles this weekend
No match top end, and no match in the twisties - not that the CBR is light, but my buddy wasn't able to stay with me on some of the corners, and I'm no Hayden.......
Accelleration - no contest. CBR was much quicker, and he WAS trying, but a shaftie will never stay with a chain drive, even though he has an extra 20HP it wasn't enough....Roll on in top was different, BUT he has 5 gears, I have 6 so if I'd been in 5th, probably about the same.
There are some nice features on the FJR, though - very comfy seat, electric screen, panniers as standard, very good build quality.Nice ride position. Good gas mileage for a 1300 - about the same as my CBR, around 17K's to the liter, cruising at 75-90MPH. Big tank......
I rode the FJR for about 500 K's on a different occasion, and I wouldn't swap my CBR for an FJR.
Let's not even talk about a Pan European - gutless IMHO. A non-starter.........
For a replacement, I'd buy a Blackbird.........or a ZZR1200 if the maintenance wasn't so high....
Just my opinion, for what it's worth......

RE: 1200 miles this weekend
Hey CB2CBR, I just got my 1st sport bike lst week. Its an 88 CBR1000F with only about 14,000miles. Im up here in Dayton. I traded a 77 Harley basket case for it. Im going to be performing my annual maintenance on it here prettysoonand I was wondering if I could bring her down your way so I might learn something from you. I want to do all the work, I just want to be supervised by some one smarter than me.
Is this possible?
