I have to agree with Steve - I've done 1100 KILOMETERS in a day (700 miles) and that took 12 hours, and I was unfit to ride for 18 hours afterwards. I stopped just for gas and wee wee breaks and I still had to travel at over 85 MPH the whole way. Maybe because I was 55 YOA at the time it was more difficult, but still.............
Try to cut your journey into 500 mile slices - that's do-able.
Anything more will be misery, even on a 1000F.
Do the math, 70 MPH limit, and even if you were able to AVERAGE 70 you'd be in the saddle for 14 hours without stops. Figure on closer to 20 hours on the road, and you'll be close. If you're still alive.
AND THAT'S JUST DAY 1 !!!!
No way.

Ah yes, but I've had a bit of practice.
I've been known to ride 400km just to take a photo, and then turn around and ride back home.
Steve, last year I was over your way to meet some people in Albury. I left Melbourne on Friday at 12.45pm and went to Mildura. I spent the night in Hay and arrived in Albury at 11.25am on Saturday. Had lunch with a group of people who think this is nothing out of the ordinary, then got on my bike and rode back to Melbourne. AND I can do it without breaking the speed limit.

I have done a little over 2,800 miles (4,500 km) in three days on a stock '79 CB750F. I have made the same trip twice. I rode the entire return trip straight through in 23 hours each time. The 1kF has wind protection and you don't get as beat up in down pours. The 1kF would be far more enjoyable on a ride like that. I have no desire to make a similar trip on the new VFR. It looks like I would be to cramped up on it.
