1000F Timing chain replacement

This is getting tired! Followed all the steps-primed the tensioner till it would hardly move, reassembled with correct timing. Perfect start and then..................rattles and clicks again. Open up to find I can pull the chain upward for about 2-3cm and it won't revert to tension. Logic says the tensioner is history-0r did they sell me the wrong chain and can it be fixed by removing 2 or 3 links?Interesting too, that when assembling, the chain is initially tight and marks line up, but as the caps are tightened, the chain sags in the middle and the timing goes out on the pulse when the initial turn is made on the crank.

Hawk I reckon he has a chain that's too long - that simple
Usually they come with 152 links and 2 links are removed for a 150 link
cam chain stock length for an unmodified Hurricane 1000
Reckon he's running with the two extra links
if he has enough slack to take 3 out like pcmg has - then I'd do that too

I'd suggest it's impossible to run with extra links in a cam chain- the timing will go out in seconds and you'll probably trash the engine.
The relationship between the crank, the valves etc will all go out of whack.
Same if you run less links than spec.
I'd suggest the timing is maybe one tooth out.....and the primary chain may be the cause of the rattle problem, not the cam timing chain ?
The primary chain can be run with less links than spec as there's no timing involved - it just spins the stator etc.

1000f Timing chain
Turns out the chain supplied(DID) WAS too long. Took a guess and removed just enough for the new master link, but still have the rattle, but not losing timing now, so will go back in and see how much more it will take.I'm guessing the 3 link option may be where I end up.
Still a poor tensioner design, in my opinion.
Thanks for the posts.

1000f Timing chain replacement
Just the info I needed , thanks. Will count the links , since some tidy-freak at the dealer's trashed the old chain which I asked them to keep, awaiting order of the new one. Since I removed a couple, it runs better, but will count them to make sure we're not overdoing things.Too much tension will snap the chain, I guess??
Also does anyone know whether another instrument cluster will be compatible? I customised this bike and feel the fairing I came up was a little bulkier than I was after, but guessed that other instruments wouldn't sync.
