What are those can like things abouve the exhuast on some bikes?

its your remote rebound resovoir. at this point, DONT TOUCH IT !
there is a **** on it that sets your suspension rebound speed. this can greatly improve, or degrade your bike's handling characterisitics. I suggest you start reading some books, like "Total Control" its a very good book for new guys
