Default M4 Exhuast

First post, new guy onboard:
I will be installing an M4 slip on (came highly recommended by indysuperbikes) next week on my 02 F4i. Is a power commander with a new map necessary? The bike has a few minor things on it but is factory for performance. Trying to get the most for the least, if possible.

is it needed? no... will it give you more performance and better throttle response? yes. so its really up to you how much power you want...with a simple slip on your bike will adjust to it fine and you will notice a nice little power increase. if you plan on adding a full exhaust system then a power commander would probably be a wise choice.

Thanks for the info. I was assuming this was the general answer. I will await to see what others say but so far from others I've heard from, off forum, they agree with you.

Does a powercommander only work for Fi bikes?

i believe so any older non fi bike would use a jet kit instead which would increase the amount of fuel delivered by the carbs

M4 is on and it was super easy. Sounds and looks great too. The power commander was not necessary as it runs smooth but I may do it later to get even more out of it.
