just installed gsxr regulator. how hot should it get?
I installed a 04 gsxr regulator/rectifier the other day after my stocker took a crap. I took it out for a ride and about a half hour later it was almost too hot to even touch. I remounted the ground to a better location after that and need to solder the wires *they were crimped because my gun didnt want to cooperate when I first wanted to install it but will be soldering it tonight* but it would get hot after reving constantly around 4-5k. I guess my question is if anyone else has done this how hot does there unit get? I am hoping soldering the wires makes a big difference but wanted a second opinion of someone who has done it already.
Thanks
Dave

RE: just installed gsxr regulator. how hot should it get?
well yesterday I put it to the test and rode for about 2 hours strait in 85 degree temp. I can definatly feel a difference with heat coming from under the seat but not enough to make any real discomfert and I tested voltage at about 3 different times durring the ride and never had any real charging issues so I guess I answered my own question. glad to be back out on the road.

could you post pics of your installed regulator? And how did you connect the wires?
I did the gsxr regulator, and just crimped the connections, now I am still having issues with my bike holding a charge, so maybe the connectors are faulty, or something.

well I dont have a camera I can use now but I just ran the wires like it said to when I did a search on here.
three black wires - three yellow on bike
one black and white - green
one black and red - red
at first I used crimp connectors and it seemed to get real hot real quick. After that I tried again and soldered them and took it for a long ride and everything seems to be working well. only time will tell.
Did you do the pinpoint test and did it point tword the rectifier?
