another f4i conversion in the books =]
My problem is usually starting a project hopeing to get it done in the 1 or 2 days i get off a fourtnight but not getting it done in time and having to bail half way threw to get the bike back on the road ready for work again lol
OMG we need a diy on this......I know its old thread but I looked everywhere and came back with nada....I saw Valkyie s molded F4i with F3 but I want to know what is needed to do this like asap lol Im about to buy an $800 fairing kit for my F3 but im getting F4i front and 600 rr tail in my kit so whats left to get and whats left to mod?
there is a diy or a write up on several of these.. if you do a search on google you will get a ton of hits with lots of information.. but what u need is some aluminum to make brackets for the fairings and a lot of time. some people chop off there tail section and get the sub frame for the 600rr. i just hacked mine up, made a support for the passenger seat, and welded away.its not hard just time consuming IMO..
I've got a 98 f3 and have been taking in as much information before going forward.. I like the 600rr tail, but I think the stock f3 matches more naturally with the f4 front... although its a bit bulky and if you want a single swing arm the RR tail is a better bet.
I do have a question. I've not seen which year the f4i fairings are coming off of? or does it matter?
I'm a pretty hands on guy, and wouldn't mind taking a step towards some more custom like VALKYIE's f4. I'd love to do the single swing arm, but i think that would be something to do later.
The big question was really with regards to the year the f4i fairings came from.
Many thanks!

For the font fairing you can use any year F4i, for the side fairings the f4 and f4i are the same.
after you buy all the plastics it isnt that hard. It took me about 25 hours total to do, but i did not have the right tools. The most important part is the metal bracket that joins the f4i stay to the F3 neck. I was left with fabricating these custom metal brackets with nothing but a dremel.
by the way, that is a 97-98 tail. it IS NOT a direct bolt on like everyone was saying. the undertail from the 95-96 is completely diffrerent. everything did not line up at all and i was very frustrated because i heard from here that it would be a direct bolt on.
