cool, ill be waiting to see the results. What projectors did you actually get and how big are they? Are you painting the reflector black if you get them mounted in there?

I bought the Murimoto Mini H1 Projectors from TheRetrofitSource. The lens is 2.5" without the shroud and about 4.5" from tip of lens to mounting point. The shape of the projector bowl is what really messes things up. The shape of the bowl is an oval. Our stock reflectors don't provide enough space to mount them. After a few hours of deliberation, I dropped everything off at a buddys house and he's going to fab me some metal plates to mount the projectors to that will use the stock adjustment bolts. I'm curious to see how they turn out. I'll get some pics when things get going again.

Would it be easier to get installed or fabbed up if i went with the fxr's or something smaller? Is it the size or just the shape thats being a PITA>?

If I'm not mistaken, the FX-R is a larger projector, which would make things much worse. The Moroimoto Mini H1 is about as small as they come.

Anyways, I picked up my mounting brackets today. They look great! I will attach a pic showing a general layout. (Quality is not the greatest.)

However, with everything buttoned up, the lens cover is hitting the shroud on the projector. I would like to move everything back about a half and inch if possible. My mounting plates are just a piece of steel with a hole drilled into the back for the back of the projector to mount. I still need space for Halos and all that Jazz. Any thoughts on how to move them back?

how about moving them farther out from the center instead of back? Making a bigger opening and moving them back might create more issues with sealing them up and protecting them from the elements and you might have clearance issues with the forks. It probably depends on how much spare room you have to work with and how much room is needed to get the lens back on though. Is there a chance of the projectors being too close to the lens and causing it to melt or are they cool enough that thats not a problem?

My fab guy is pretty amazing with stuff like this, so I'll let him work some magic. If need be, I can probably seal them up with some epoxy. I just need to make 100% sure that they're aligned right before I epoxy anything. I'm using the measure twice, cut once rule. I wouldn't have a problem moving them more towards the center, but I want them to line up with the opening in the back of the housing. Also, If I move them towards the center, it really doesn't help as far as clearance goes.

EDIT: And to clear up the FX-R vs. MH1 projectors, the FX-R's are only .15" larger depth wise than the MH1, but the FX-R doesn't allow for the Mini-Gatling Gun shroud. I can't imagine a larger shroud being able to fit in the headlight assembly.

farther out from center, not in towards it. Is there more depth on the outside of the headlight housing so they could be mounted deeper inside and give you more clearance?

Hmm interesting. Ive also kind of always wanted to do a race front fairing with no cutouts for the headlights then just mount a projector or two straight into that. I doubt ill go that crazy though.

I too ordered a set and will be installing them in my 04 this weekend hopefully. They are due to arrive here tomorrow. I will be starting a new post as well to show my progress as I go. I plan to make custom mounts for mine as well.

has anyone figured anything out yet? i just received my morimoto mini H1's, and i was extremely disappointed that it didnt come with any directions what so ever.

how do you wire up everything? i have my idea, but dont want to plug it in and have something blow.

also, mounting it seems to be a pain in my a$$. i've got them mounted fine, but i cant get the part that holds the bulb in place screwed on.

any suggestions?
