new sprockets
ive been thinking about getting new sprockets lately and i was wondering if anyone had a suggestion on what brand to get. Also im trying to get better acceleration to keep up with my friends' 636's and RR's and be able to pull up wheelies easier but i dotn want to lose a whole lot of top end, or have it come up too much when im shifting. ive seen that everyone seems to go -1/+2 and im just wondering if i should do the same.

RE: new sprockets
i'd go with a DID chain and like renthal, afam, vortex, sprocket specialist sprockets. -1/+2 you will do real good keeping up...but mine doesn't have trouble keeping up or pulling in a stock RR with just the -1 up front. +2 in the rear may be too high for you on the highway and you will lose more top end than with just a -1. also consider going up 3 in the rear instead of -1 up front as it will decrease the wear on the chain.
i'm sure you'll be fine with an RK chain, but i go with DID cause they have never let me down, but the others have.

ditto
I have vortex sprockets mainly because they are aluminum rather than steel so they weight less (less rotating mass makes a difference). They won't last as long but thats okay with me. I have an RK chain and it hasn't snapped or worn yet, but my next chain will be DID, good stuff
I like -1/+2, its okay on the street but like tahoe said you will lose a decent bit of top end

RE: new sprockets
so what is your guys' suggestion? should i go just -1 in the front or just +2 or +3 in the back? ill look into those chains and vortex was the brand i was looking at getting. im also thinking about getting a power commander. another thing is i hear a ticking sound at certain rpms and at first i thought cam chain tensioner, but the mechanic at the shop here said that its not that because it doesnt make any noise when it idles. could it just be that i need to get the lash adjusted on my valves? or any other suggestion on what that might be?

RE: new sprockets
which sprockets depends on how extreme you want the change to be. If your looking for an extreme change, try -1/+2 but if its more of a moderate change, just try +2 or 3 in the rear, just depends on how much acceleration you want to gain vs how much top end your willing to lose
CCT ticking usually only happens around 5-6 K RPMs so it probably is the CCTL, you can swap it yourself without too much trouble, you can get a stock one and it will last a couple thousand miles and start ticking again or you can get an APE manual and adjust it at about the same intervals (rather than replacing it)
