Installed new bars
So I finally finished my degree and my fiance bought me a set of helibars as my graduation present. I installed them today. I have to say they are well worth the money. They're built like they're bullet-proof and the mirror black powdercoating was flawless. The only mod I had to do to make them fit was to cut off the tab that orients the banjo fitting on the front master cylinder so it could rotate forward. Other than that it was really easy and quick. The riding position is a lot more comfortable and lets me sit further back in the seat and takes the pressure off my wrists and shoulders. My left shoulder has some torn cartilage in it and dislocates a lot and every time I rode it would ache like crazy after just a few miles. Rode it today with the new bars and didn't feel anything in my shoulder. I highly recommend them to anyone considering a new set of bars. I would have taken pics but you can't really tell a difference until you sit on the bike. There are some good pics at the official heli-modified site.
By the way, everytime I tried to type in bars while making this post I typed in bras accidentally like two or three times. Think my mind is on something else. |

Hi there duck0872 !
I´m interested in the helis, how much one pair ? Cheers |
RE: Installed new bars
I'm scoping the helibars as well but the $250 price tag is a little discouraging. Is there a place that sells them for less?
LSL makes a riser clip on for the f4i as well although I can't find any for sale. www.stuntme.com sells a triple clamp riser that they list as fitting on an f4i for $49 . It enables the mounting of a dirtbike handlebar on the bike. I think it's a cool idea, but I want to know if it's an easy fit to my 02 f4i. |

$250 for the cbr 600rr, a little pricey, but worth it. The thing about the helibars is that they work with the stock lines and cables, and if you need longer cables they supply them with the bars. I couldn't find any other company that did that.

RE: Installed new bars
Update: I called stuntme.com and they explained their bar riser. It's $49 and enables the mounting of dirtbike bars to the f4i. It requires drilling of the triple clamp though :( . The holes can be covered with a carbon fiber triple clamp cover if you want to put it back to stock later. According to the guy at stuntme, no mod of cables/ hoses is required except maybe the cable ties or re-routing. I ordered mine today and shipping was free. It should come in a few days. Now I just have to find some 7/8" dirt bike bars. It'll be a similar mount to a Suzuki SV naked model. I don't know what it's going to feel like in the twisties, but my Honda Hawk had pretty tall bars and handled like crazy. Speaking of the Honda Hawk, the clip ons from that may work on a CBR F4i as well. It would likeley take more work to fit them on. There is a webpage out there from a guy that fitted them on his SV. The nice thing about dirt bike bars is the low cost. If you twist them, they are like $20. The bad thing may be no internal weights to stop vibration. I haven't figured out the whole bar end mounting just yet. |
RE: Installed new bars
I had thought about that but I didn't want dirtbars on my cbr, I like the look of the clipons, just wanted something a little bit more comfortable. You'd probably be able to install the factory damper and bar ends on the dirt bike bars, i think you'd just have to drill a few holes so the locking tabs could fit in.

ORIGINAL: koco The bad thing may be no internal weights to stop vibration. I haven't figured out the whole bar end mounting just yet. do a search for a product called a bar snake. it's a flexible solid insert that goes inside the bars to add some weight and cut down on vibration. and check www.denniskirk.com for some universal bar ends for 7/8" bars. there are many of them out there. they just push in and expand when you tighten them. i have used both products on many dirtbike bars before, but they were installed on dirtbikes!:D good luck |
RE: Installed new bars
