Quick Q: I've got an RS-3, all screws. Same concept? Anyone done this one? Does it in fact sound turdish? Does this affect performance?

By removing any baffle from any bike you will get a louder sound, not quite as loud as just dumping from the mid pipe but still loud. As for performance, I have seen some bikes run like crap, but others that have come to life.

Did that with my '96 Kanatuna - cut the end of muffler tip, ground off the baffles and welded the tips back on. Sounds like an Eclipse with a fart can now, but I was able to feel a bit in performance.
