Hey guys I just picked up a 99 f4, I dont have much experice with carbs at all. and would like some oppinions on what to do, The bike starts sputtering and missing bad at around 4k rpmsif i keep on it until 8k it cleans up and starts running good.,

What would be the first think to look at, cleeaing the carbs right?

ya have a tune up done. you may need your valves adjusted, but just start with a carb flush, clean your airbox, and if you have the tools sync your carbs

Default RE: First bike, Carb problems,

you definetly need to clean the carbs
at almost 8 years old there is a lot of gunk stuck around.

just remember that carb cleaner will mess up the thin rubber diaphrams but if you are going to take them apart (its not that hard)
get a rebuild kit anyway
