Another -1 +2 sprocket question

Default Another -1 +2 sprocket question

I'm running an 05 600RR with the -1 in the front 520 conversion. Haven't noticed that much of a differnce as far as excelleration goes. I've noticed most peeps run a -1 +2 setup. What exactly is gained and lost to this gearing change? Wheelies are no problem so thats not a factor.Thanks for your time, Cr@cker

the +2 in the back shifts the powerband even lower in the rpm range. it makes the bike take off faster. the drawbacks, lower top end and speedo off badly.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm looking to build a midrange power house, but I still want some top end. My bikes all stock except the -1 in the front. I just ordered a Akrapovic full exhaust with a Power Commander and I'm looking to change the gearing but I'm not sure what to go with. How much top ends lost with a -1 +2? Not that I use top end so much, I'd still like to know. Thanks again.

without going to a gearing calculator 10-15mph off the top of my head 20 at the most
