600 vs 1000 after upgrades
i've been considering buying a cbr 1000 rr, probably 04-06, but i've also been wondering if it would be worth it to get a 600 (better handling and lower overall weight) and then upgrade it to make it comparable to a stock 1000. comparable by power to weight ratio that is... yet overall still lighter/more maneuverable. any suggestions?

thats an impossible move , theres not that big a difference in the weight between to two. SO your not going to be able to get the same amount of power out of the six, at least not in the same usable form, and prolly not w/o the use of a turbo and/or NOS which both suck on a bike anywhere except for a straight line.

this will be my first street bike, but i've been riding dirt bikes since i was little. i drive a stick shift car as well, so i know how to handle a clutch and throttle system like a baby. i have plenty of experience driving, and i've been able to avoid accidents several times, so, though i may be over confident, i feel like i could handle the 1000. is it that extremely bad to start with a 1000 even with the experience, though non street bike? i know i sound very noobish here, but i'm having a hard time deciding and i'm seeking all the advice i can get before spending the 6-10k. all input helps! thank you!

I think you are greatly overestimating the value of your experience when talking Dirt vs Street. They are similar in many ways but "similar" does not mean "equal". You're essentially saying "Well I've waterskiied my entire life so I can handle the Expert slope my first time snow skiing".
There are too many things you do in the dirt simply to be able to ride that won't translate over well onto the street. And that's just in riding techniques. Adding in traffic escalates things to a whole different level. I've said it before: to get the equivalent traffic experience in dirt, imagine trying to ride through a herd of stampeding deer.
You "might" get "lucky" and come out ok starting on a liter bike. Do you really want to risk your health, your future ability to do everything you enjoy doing or your life on "might" & "lucky"?

a bit overkill unless they are 10 lol. But in the long run they would be a better rider if they did go that route

I think an f4/f4i would be a perfect starter bike if you have some experience on how to atleast ride a dirtbike and have respect for the throttle. A 600 will kill you just as fast as a 1000. 1000cc bikes do have abit more acceleration, but honestly their both about as fast as eachother until higher speeds. You can only go so fast without lifting the front wheel/flipping over. Get a 600 and enjoy it. Thank us later
