Default 600 rr motor question

i got an 06 cbr 600 rr and took it to the shop the other day cuz it cut off on me and now wont start..and they told me today that my motor was locked up..and most likely the pistons are ****ed or the rods are ****ed...so pretty much the motors toast.

so i was wondering would it be possible to put a 900, 954, 1000 motor in place of the 600 cc motor? would this be possible and if so...wat all would have to be done to make this swap work>?

and they verified this how? they opened up the heads and case?

and no, it's not possible to put any other power plant in the CBR600RR frame than the 600RR motor without some serious fabrication.

So what leads them to think the engine had a catastrophic mechanical failure anyway?

And i'll say it again:

no, it's not possible to put any other power plant in the CBR600RR frame than the 600RR motor without some serious fabrication.

how many miles did you have on it? did you check your oil frequently? did it just one day stop running or was it running rough, hard starts, feeling sluggish? id take it somewhere else, how can you tell a motor is toast without taking it apart?

yea they dont know for sure they just think that could be the only problem...but thye dont know for sure..there takin it apart tom and see for sure and let me know.

i had 10025 miles on it..bought it brand new last summer...and just had the oil changed a couple a weeks ago when i had the new clutch put in. it was runnin just fine then it did get sluggish on me while was doin about 80 then it cut of on me and i cut it back on while i was rollin...and rode for a lil bit...but it was very sluggish and not very responsive....then cut of on me again...and i pulled over to see wat was up and it would kick backover. i hope the motors not supper ****ed..ima check see if its stll under waranty..but ill see wat they say tom..and let yall know...and prolly take it someone else toget a second opinion....

ohh and ill accept donations towards the repairs haha

was locked up
A running motor will not 'lock up' or whatever that means unless you get a hydraulic lock on it. If it is hydraulic lock I couldn't imagine it happening on a bike (you didn't drive it into a firehose did you?)unless something really wacky went wrong in the head, look at the coolant and check levels and color.

Sounds like something really bad broke, but the term 'locked-up' makes no sense to me.

Take it somewhere else.

If you had some crazy *** engine malfunction like they said you have. It would not have gradually happened. If it siezed there is not way that it would have started back up even if you where rolling. You would of had to throw a rod and launched your piston up into the head. Once an engine seizes your not going to get it statred with out major repair. If you threw a rod there is a good chance that there would be a hole somewhere on your enging block.

Take it to a different shop and have someone else look at it.

What is it doing when you try to start it? Does it do anything at all?
