Default 05 600rr to 07/08

Ok guys, here is the issue...I have a friend that fell on his bike at low speed and he no longer want the bike, he's going to part it out; now I have 05 600rr and my question is, can I totally transform my 05 to 07, are the frames the same, I'm planning to put everything on it but engine and frame since he is asking too much for it ($4500).
Planning on put on all plastics, sub frame, tires, swing arm, clip-ons, the whole bike, I'm only using my frame and engine...

Is it possible, straight fit or I need to mod something...thanks in advance guys...

You'll need to modify most everything... while almost all parts from the 03 to 06 are interchagable, the 07/08 is a totally different bike... I do know that the entire fromt end will fit, but you have to replace everyting - tripples, forks, axle, front wheel, etc... the rear wheel is a direct bolt on. But other than that nothing else will bolt on.

"he laid it down at low speed and hes parting it out.." <------what??

something sounds fishy.. i have laid a couple of bikes down at low speed and never came close to parting it out, and thats w/o sliders.

hmmm... i would say just sell your 05 and get a used 07.. that wasnt laid down.

You should sell your 05 and pick up an un-crashed 07/08. Tis the season to sell.

what's fishy about it?, he's scared to death after braking his right leg in 2 places the same day he went to trade it for a 1000rr...if you are trying to say it's stolen, it's not, you can verify it by buying his frame/engine kit for 4500 dollars...

thanks a lot Jason for the reply, I found something else on another board as well..I guess I'll keep my 05 the way it is until I can afford an 07...

not possible frames are completly different. swingarm and subrame won't fit. intakes are different.

there is a guy on here who managed to get 07 race plastics on his 04 but i don't know if he managed to get the intake system working properly.

i can see it being possible with track plastic cos you won't mind drilling them in odd places to make them fit, but the road stuff is gonna be alot harder to make it work.

no im saying what about a low speed crash is going to cause the bike to be sooo bad it has to be "parted out" thats a last resort usually for bikes that are jacked the f up..

just my .02

If you want an 07 get an 07. Personally I like the full fairing of the 05 better. My .02

Almost nothing will fit, besides what you are paying for with the new generation is the dual-injected motor, more advanced frame, etc.. a clone would roll the same, that and your resale would be zero. Id recommend riding your 05 till you done, then trade it in for a new gen. You will have less headaches that way, and more time to ride.

Like said before... the bikes are completely different in almost everyway. It would take more money to do the swap then just going and buying an uncrashed '07.
