Will 04-05 Windscreen fit the 06 1000rr
I contacted 2 companies for windscreens that I was interested in asking them if their 04-05 windscreen would fit the 06 CBR 1000RR? I received 2 totally different responses. From Sportbike Designs, "Thank you for writing to us. Yes, our windscreen that you mentioned will fit a 2006 Honda CBR1000RR. The other from Sportech, Inc, "No, the '04-'05 screen will not fit on the '06 model. However we will have standard, red, blue and black chrome windshields in both the original and V-Flow styles available in June.
Has anyone tried the 04-05 on their 06 and does it fit like the OEM?
Thanks for your help!!!

Not yet, but I will tomorrow. I bought a Sportech for my '06 that I'm installing tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes. Holding it up to the bike it appears that they are the same.
Ok, so it appears that they '05 and prior windscreens do NOT fit the '06. I put mine on and actually left it for a day or two to make sure, but no. It didn't fit. Nor did it look good. I took it off and am going to sell it on Ebay. It's a sportech if anyone's interested.
That is strange. I crossed checked the part numbers between 04/05's and 06's and they are the same, 64250-MEL-000ZA to be exact. Honda has another part number listed for the 05's, 6420-MEL-D10ZA, but I think that one might be for the Respol. The last few digits of the part number reference "modification process design" and color.
I personally just ordered a Puig wind screen from Indysuperbike. Their site doesn’t show one for the 06 specifically but a couple of other internet stores show the Puig fitting 04-06's.
I will let everyone know how it fits when it arrives.

You might be right. If that's the case it just means that the Sportech windscreens for the 1000RR fit and look like crap. Either way, I don't want it. I'm going to stick with the stocker until I see something I like better, which may be never.
I just installed a Puig double bubble last night in fact on my '06...and it fit very nicely. The part said that it fits any '04-'06. I suspect though that it depends on which manufacturer you go with . The 2004-06 Puig is fine for an '06.
I installed my Puig and it has gap that measures about 1/8" at the bottom where the OEM windscreen was flush with the front cowl. It fits and looks great minus the gap. I keep thinking of all the water that will get up behind the front cowl if I get caught in the rain and that does not sit well with me. I will keep it on until I learn about others that fit properly.
Hey Tribal. Ya know after I read your post...I went to look at my bike and you are right.
<<I installed my Puig and it has gap that measures about 1/8" at the bottom>>
I don't know how I missed that when I put on the Puig. there is a small gap there. I hope that does not become an issue either. Hmmm. Maybe some sort of seal we can install there ?
