Power Commander, worth it?
I just put on a Jardine slip-on and my throttle is garbage from idle to about 4k rpms. I just bought a power commander but haven't installed it yet, will it clear it up like I've heard it should or are there other mods out there that help?
I had the exact same problem when I first put on my Sato slip-on. I put on a PCIII and got it mapped on a dyno. Now it pulls much better from the low revs..and it has much better response in the mid - high end too. It will make a big difference if you can get a custom map made ...or find a map for that pipe.
just last week i had a jardine rt-one slip on put on, k&n air filter, and pc3usb installed. had it dyno tuned with a custom map and only gained 1hp. as a matter of fact, about 85% of the lines on the before/after dyno tune print out are lower after the custom map (very close though) then before the custom map. this part i dont understand. anyways..the exhaust sounds awesome and the bike still runs like a dream. go for the pc3usb. btw my bike is an 05 1000rr (bought it new last july) and has 2800 miles on it.
strange..how much hp did ur blade put out?? before and after dyno mapping..mine is 145hp - 149hp respectively..any lower than mine, maybe u r in serious need of help..LOL..neway im gonna remap my PC III by a different tuner after my PC comes back from servicing..thank God for the 1 year warranty..
I know this is going to sound weird...but I just got mine recently mapped on a dyno. The tuner told me that he has seen HP drop after mapping with non-stock filters...especially K&N. He they recommended keeping the stock filter.
smack..my hp reading from 145 to 149hp is without the flapper mod and with the catalytic converter still attached..I have since totally removed the flapper and the catalytic converter from my bike..gettin my bike remap soon with an added accelerator pump and see hw it goes..will keep u all updated!!
and 1 more thing..ur stock hp seems too low but no offense..hw did u break ur bike in?? i heard dat if u follow the manufacturers' recommendation ie; riding below 100km/hr for about a few thousand clicks, u end up having lower hp. I had my blade dyno break in and resulted in having 145hp stock. my fren's R1 04 put out 146hp..1 thing to note, dun trust e mags too much!! haha..
anyone having different opinions about breakin in??

You should give engine lots pf heat cycles, and rev the bollocks off it now and again. Get those piston rings sealing fast. If you catch your mechanic caning your new bike he is doing you a favour!!
it does seem low thats for sure. during break-in i didnt run it conservatively by any means. maybe it was the conditions that day that made it score so low, their were pop-up thunderstorms all day long. or maybe the place just didn't know what they were doing? im kinda getting depressed now, even though it runs great. heres the website for the shop i had it all done at, maybe someone has heard something about them or can shed some light on the subject- http://www.bikes2nv.com
