Default Pics and info on Bikelitez fender eliminator!

Ok - so I'm sure there are several on this forum who have experienced the JOY of installing either the Hotbodies or Bikelitez fender eliminator on their 1000's. I just wanted to pass on some pics and info relating to the install job I just got finished with on my '08 1000. First let me say that I called several places looking for the Hotbodies kit for which I had ZERO luck. Hotbodies wasn't getting any new kits together until late July and I simply couldn't have the gigantic fugly fender hanging off my bike any longer than the week it had already been with me. So - I opted for what looked to be the next best thing - Bikelitez. I looked up their number and called to place my order. The guy who answered the phone was nice and easy to deal with. He took my order and must have shipped it out promptly as I ordered it on Tues and received it on Thurs and I'm in Minnesota. I was happy to see UPS show up promptly as I was ready to install.

Initially when I opened the box I was instantly a little disappointed. For $215.00 I must say I expected more. The LED's looked a little cheezy and the wiring/connections were very tiny and cheap. I'm guessing this kit is VERY cheap to make as there really isn't a whole lot to it. Now - I don't want to poop in Bikelitez Wheaties because I have no actual idea what it cost tomanufacture and distribute but looking at it - I can't imagine it was much. Now - I will say that once I got everything on the bike it didn't look cheap at all and actually looked really nice.

I can't really explain to you how much of a pain in the A$$ this kit was to install. Maybe I'm retarded... but there really wasn't a lot to decipher. I'm sure that most of these kits are a pain so I'm not trying to discriminate. For those looking to install this kit I'd highly recommend two things. First - get a nice right angle screw driver. This was a major obstacle for me. Second - go and get some good wiring connectors as the ones sent with the kit were useless as the bikelitez wires are miniscual at best. Third - get some black or clear epoxy to seal up the gaps between the storage compartment lower housing and the rear lower fairing. Bikelitez does send some rubber shims but to me they were uselessand couldn't have aided in thefit much. I also for added measureused electrical tape on everything to hold it together and then got some hollow black plastic hose tocover and surround all the wires.

Below are some pics of the final solution.

INSIDE THE STORAGE AREA. I sealed everything up with black epoxy to keep it clean and keep water out. I used plastic hollow hose covering to keep all the wires inside and neat looking. I think use electric tape to wrap it all up.

Here's some pics I tried to take in my garage of the lights and license plate light that came with the kit. It's really hard to tell in the pics but the license plate light is much brighter than it looks.

All in all - I'm not sure if I would buy this kit or recommend it to anyone. It's pricey, a little cheap feeling, a pain in the buttocks, directions suck and doesn't have that OEM fit and finish that I like from aftermarket parts. That being said - I think it DOES look nice once completed but took some work to satisfy me. Is it better than a hotbodies kit - I have NO idea... probably not. Is it worth buying if you can't find a Hotbodies kitto replace the factory big booty that comes on the new CBR's - ABSOLUTELY. Just my two cents. I'm sure someone on this forum will call me an idiot stating "I had no problems"! Hope this helps someone.

i purchased this kit from them. i drove to his shop and had him install it. i have had nothing but compliments about it and love it. i think alot of the cost is in the person hand making his trays and painting them. thatisnt too easy or cheap. i like the product and would recommend it to anyone looking for a F.E.. i ride with a guy that ordered the hotbodies kit and returned it before he installed it as he was unhappy with the paint and quality of material.

choose whatever is best for you but i love my bikelitez kit

Ya man - I'm not trying to dog on the kit at all and I'm sure that every single one of them are a pain in the anus to install. I just wanted to share my experience.BUT - I know that fabricating and painting the molding likely is where most the cost came from. I would have liked to see just a little more time be spent on the wiring and LED's. All in all though... it does look pimp.

I'd have given my left ******** to have had him install it on my bike. I mean that.

Not bad.
I do like my Hotbodies better. It looks like Bikelitz didn't paint the section well. It looks flat black instead of glossy. But whatever.
Also the Hotbodies interior is finished. It seems as thought Hotbodies had molded plastic that they color matched and Bikelitz used some kiind of fiberglass.
Yes they are all a PITA to install.

Dude...nice machine as it does look a lot cleaner ..sleeker with the new light kit..

I think some of these companies dont take the time to review their products well before production. Sometimes I think its all about mass production and not enough quality work.

I was one of the few lucky ones to find the hotbodies for my 08' 1k but dude I had to really search and search...until bam i got it.. it was just my preference.

Again nice limited Edition u got there..
