On a side note, some time ago I originally had the Shogun no cuts on my 07 when I bought it in march. I had them on for a few months thenI read that someone had the same problem as you have...then read another...then heard more horror stories about the no cut sliders. I said "to hell with that!" since I already had a set of thecut sliders laying around for the 1000RR and threw them on instead, just in case. The annoying part of the whole thing is that the water elbow is probably a $15 part too and all that work just to swap it out.
Have you decided if you're going to tackle it yourself or take it in?
dwhite i think i am gonna attempt to tackle it this weekend just gotta find time with all the moving and clearing space. but yea the part is like 60 bucks but even that and to pay an extra 400-500 on top is just crazy for me not to try. i actually talked to a tech and he said that he would be able to take the airbox out and do it. now that takes 2-3 hours or so but its less than dropping the engine. 2 were certified honda dealers and the other is a race shop. but the only bad thing is that they looked in the comp and used its time calculator to see what it said for the job, so that is why i went to the shops and dug a little bit more. i got good responses but ultimately they said that they needed to see the bike. so we will see as soon as i get a minute off my freaking schedule at the moment. keep you posted.
Yeah, keep us posted. Also, if you don't have the shop manual, download the 06-07 1000RR manual in PDF format. I have it, but can't remember where I got it from. If I can figure out how to to it, I can upload pages of it here if you need it.
It's not like theirhand made. They don't need to see the bike. What they need, is to take it apart. You will be up more than $500.00 trust me. Keeping track of where everythinggoesis the hardest part. It's one off, One back on.Your notswaping the cams. Don't get me wrong, it wont be easy. But your bike is pretty new. The bolts won't be braking on the way out. Back in is all you.
