Default Head Light Covers ?

I've been looking at bikes with headlight covers (both shields and mesh) and think they look very cool.

I am wondering though...how much dimmer will my headlight be ? Is it just slightly dimmer or alot less visible. I like the look but also do want to be seen at night.

Anyone put these one ?

With all the talk about reduced weight - why do something that only adds weight?

If your going to add a mod it should: provide an improvement and/or weight savings.

Just my 2 cents

Thats not what he asked though. Im wondering the same thing. My headlight is marred on the right side and im in no position to buy a new headlight for $150. Im curious about the mesh and how much the visibility is reduced from someone who uses it personally.

hope you're kidding about the weight .. my mesh cover weighs less than an used maxipad.

depending on the brand it cuts light output by about 5% to 10%. after I put silverstar bulbs on though, it not only compensated for that reduction but is actually quite a bit brigther than OEM without a mesh cover. I have no problems with mine but I highly recommend using brighter than stock bulbs if you put'em on.

worried about reduced weight geepaks?? you could accomplish more by taking air outta your tires rather that taking headlight covers off... CBR headlights are not really great to begin with so if you do any riding at night don't put covers unless they are removable.

just tint the headlights with 20 or 35 percent tint and call it a day, you would add maybe a gram of weight and not have a bulky cover. have a tint shop do it for u if u feel insecure to do it urself, and 35 percent tint would decrease visibility by at the most 1-2% not much at all really. and it would cost you at the most 50 bucks and thats if you had someone do it for you. a roll of tint is 10 bucks at walmart lol
