The only Easy way is to cut them off...

otherwise you have to almost take the whole tail off.

I know I'm in the same boat. I want to but not for that much work.

If you have the tail section plastics off already, then ...

1. Remove the one bolt that holds the two-piece subframe together. It's located at the very back of the sub-frame.

2. Remove one half of the sub-frame (two bolts).

3. Remove the pegs from that half of the sub-frame.

4. Re-install that half of the sub-frame.

5. Repeat for on the other side.

How about a quick how to on the easy way to get the plasitc off the tail..? I ordered my service manual today but I don't want to wait. Took the rear seat off, took the 4 bolts out off the top, 4 off the bottom and the entire tail seems like it will pull right off the back. I don't want to mess up a brand new bike, so I just want to make sure I didn't miss something. Part of the undertail seems like it wants to stay in place but I don't see any more bolts. Any help would be appreciated. -Smoke

Never mind.. I got it. Just said **** it and pulled. Came off exactly how I thought it would. The harder part was getting to all the screws hidden under stuff to remove the under tail. While I'm there, I'm going to split the subframe and remove the rear pegs. What an abortion... Honda definately designed this **** so less people will work on their own bikes. Now I know why so many guys are still running their rear pegs.

naa they designed it so when and if you do take it off that they will look like they never had pegs on it which is 100% better then most bikes were you get to see the holes for the screws on the sub frame forever. which is ugly

It does look sweet with the new honda racing seat cowl and no rear pegs..

Just completed removing mine on an '09. Afterall, how silly would it be to have a seat cowl (ordered) with passenger pegs hanging there!? A lot of work that required a lot of patience and aquired skills... but it looks great!!
