I removed the flapper and vacuum can and assorted crap. Unless you have a manual, lots of room and above average mechanical skills I'd suggest leaving it in. This is the first time 'under the hood' and I'm impressed with all the doo-dads and **** in there. I'll let ya know after a couple hundred miles how it runs with the physical stuff gone.

I asked Dan Kyle racing about this mod and they said don't bother. They told me just put on the Sato slip-on & PC3 and you're good to go...no need for an after market air filter either!

Well I put the K&N air filters on my 05 1k and it definately made a difference. I had more low end power, and then I installed a full Yosh RS-5, but now I have alot of back pop when I down shift and when in high rpm's and I come off the throttle.

I`ve always had that popping when down shifting at high revs, even when the bike was completely stock. ? ? ?

The popping is due to the PAIR valve. Disable that and it'll go away.

I had the mid fairings off last night to install my Greggs Customs signals, so I took the opportunity to remove all the associated crap with the flapper. Removed the valve/solenoid assembly on the left side of the bike and plugged the vac line to the motor. Even if it doesn't make much difference, it gets rid of some of the clutter on the bike. I did notice a vacuum line running from the motor (can't really see where) that had the end just stuck into the hollow opening on the left side frame spar. What is this and is it supposed to be there? BTW, the Greggs Custom signals look great. I think I may cut them off though to install resistors on them. Not sure I like the hyper-fast blinking, sort of reminds me of all the dumb tricked out Honda Civics I see all the time.

I quite like the popping to be honest, and seeing how the pair system does no harm to performance and actually helps reduce carbons in the exhaust gases i see no need to remove it.
