I just ate a half of one as a midnight snack. Damn good. I love stripers.

Sprock, it was 64F high today. It was Nov. 19th it should have been colder. Water was perfect a good way out (2.99miles ) Supposed to be sixes, but looked like 4s. Yesterday was 10fts!
Beautiful weather and we landed about 50-60. Too many blues, too...
Fish were nice. Real healthy. Eatin' good. (coming down from maine, you know.... )

Holly chit !!! them's bloody good looking fish Dylan nice pic too mate ....
are they as good to eat as they are to look at ???
Thanks, steve! These are about 36-38" or so. Real nice fish. And yes, they are excellent to eat. People look for these ones if they know what's good. I just cooked up about a pound as a snack.

Seems like every fish has an alias these days.

Ok, missed it. Striped bass. I saw a picture of the fish that they use to make the Fish Sandwich at Mickey D's the other day. It will scare the crap out of you. Huge and ugly and they live about 2 miles down out there near Oz.

I wish we could catch Bluefish the size you get them.....
Dayum good eatin' too !
Never eaten striped bass - looks a bit like a Tiger fish..............
hope it tastes better than tiger - Guk !
2.99 miles is just about on the BEACH !!!!!!!!!
And 10ft is just a wee bit above normal......
We go out around 12-30 MILES into the Mozambique current for big game stuff - water is purple out there - heaven !!
Hell in the UK 2.99 miles wouldn't even get your wellies wet at low tide !!

Blues & Stripers ain't my kind of chow that much .........Blues tend to be real oily
and Stripers when real fresh and done up with something are okay but other than
that taste a bit blah .............I prefer swordfish, Tuna etc ...........bit more dense
and flavorful and one helluva lot more fun to reel in.

Stripers are a blast too to land for sure and you can get some real big ones only
the little ones escape south to be caught off the coast of Joiiizzee by freeloadin'
landlubbers from southern PA and that's only because they suck at shooting
deer or anything else for that matter.

Hehe... regulation for striped bass fishing makes you stay at 3miles or less..
which is why we were at 2.99miles. That's all I'm sayin'....

Sprock, you're outta your mind.... !!!
I don't really like blues. You're right, they aren't for everyone. (darker, oily, kinda "gamey" for lack of a better word) However, the old man is smoking some up today. It's pretty dam good when smoked.
Stripers are completely different. Very good stuff. Much lighter, sweeter, just freakin' awesome.
My guess is that you've been eating the red meat, you clown....
I like sword (had a steak wednesday night, actually), and I like good tuna, too.... however... fresh striped bass is dam good stuff in my book, too.
All personal preference, I suppose.... but if you don't like stripers.... there is something wrong with you..... (as if we didn't already know you were a little "different")

I said I like 'em fresh and if jazzed up a bit though because as you said they're light and fluffy .........which figures about right for you .... hee hee

I like my fish abit more solid and flavourful is all. I absolutely die for fresh
wild Salmon ........and smoked Salmon too.....that's my king of Fish right there .......and I used to catch tons of it growing up back home.

I'd be real keen to taste smoked Blue ........sounds like a "to be done" item to add to my "to be done book" ......along with sky diving, bungy
jumping of the bridge in S/A etc etc.

3 mile limit eh ??? .........figures ..........it's New Jersey afterall

Salmon is one of my absolute favorites, too. Makes me drool just thinking about it. Especially a nice big cold chunk of smoked stuff. Mmmm....
My old man called me about an hour ago... said he's been smoking bluefish all day. He has some regular, salted, and some cajun stuff he tried. I'm gonna go over and tear some of that up tomorrow for lunch.

That's national law, man. Anywhere in the EEZ has a 3mile out limit for stripers.
Which is why we went out to 2.99miles.
I'm no outlaw...
(watch for the coastguard helis, and the boats will be up within minutes...)
So what SOME people do is go out say 13-20miles. Then they fill the well with the bag, and fillet the extras on the boat. Then they put the extra fillets in a bucket that can easily be dumped overboard.
But I wouldn't do that.
Just so you know.
BTW, it's illegal to commercially sell striped bass anywhere because it was hurting for a while. It's coming back really good now, though.

.........MMMMmmmmm yom yom ......few beers too .....lucky you.

Hmm the 3 mile thing ....huh never really thought about it I always go
well past Boon Island light before catching striper runs anyways which is
well out so I was probably been law abiding without even knowing it. Nothing
like it when you get out there and Land is a thin hairline strip behind you plenty
of bait some tunes a cooler full of beer and plenty of vittles
