CBR 600F Vs R6?
#21
There are too many variables to figure which bike&rider would win. With your MX background I'm sure you understand this.
Perfect scenario: perfect launches, perfect shifts and same rider experience; Both completely stock bikes.
The F4i will leave out of the hole harder and pull through the mid range; mid range and higher the R6 will pull harder and have a faster top speed.
The F4i has more bottom end and mid range power, it was designed as a sport touring bike. The R6 has optimal top end power because it was designed as a race bike. R6's have always had optimal top end.
BTW I'm not sure where you got the info about an R6 having 120hp out of the box
Anyone please feel free to comment or make adjustments to my opinions as needed

Course that equates to probably ~114hp for the R6 at the wheel where the F4i was rated at around 105. but the R6 has to be held way up in the RPM range as everyone here has mentioned to keep it at that level of power.

This is from a site I use just to size up bikes, Don't quote me on the accuracy since I'm sure everything was tested with different riders on different days.
01 F4i - 96.6 RWHP, Top Speed: 155mph, 0-60mph: 2.89s, 0-100mph: 6.61s, 1/4 mile: 10.59s @ 128.23mph.
06 F4i - 90.1 RWHP, Top Speed: 156mph, 0-60mph: 3.52s, 0-100mph: 7.94s, 1/4 mile: 11.26s @ 121.56mph.
01 R6 - 97.5 RWHP, Top Speed: 156mph, 0-60mph: 3.02s, 0-100mph: 6.58s, 1/4 mile: 10.59s @ 128.10mph.

If you only would have had an 01-03
So in the end it comes down to who is a better rider. (which it is in most same class bikes)

I hate the kinds of responses these threads get. Everyone here owns a flashy, purely optional, speed machine.
Bikes aren't useful for travel / or carrying. We have these because they go fast, they turn fast, they turn heads whatever.
Even if you "just love riding"... or some such bs. Go buy a Harley Or maybe a Vstar.
I for one ride responsibly but absolutely LOVE tearing up some backroadss WAYYYYY past the speed limit.
Go line em up and race em man. Only one way to figure out which one is faster. Just make sure you're somewhere safe.
FLAME On now BIATCHES. You'd all be eating my dust anyways.
EDIT: oh and Pics of the "Mrs." please

I'm not condemning anyone for how they ride a bike, lord knows i drive the **** out of mine. given the op stated hes getting his license in a week, and his buddy got his a week earlier, led me to believe 2 inexperienced riders were out to try and break the speed of light. given further details, i guess riding dirt for years allows u to race bikes on the street. im just saying try and be safe out there.

Having owned and ridden most models of R6 & CBR600 from around the turn of the century I can say that if both bikes were in good condition suspension, engine and bearing wise etc any R6 will waste pretty much any stock CBR600F.
In a straight line from the F3 on there won't be a lot in it but as soon as you hit the corners the CBR's are always hard work. I even had a brand new CBR600 sport in 2002, I was less than impressed as it was hardly any better cornering than the slightly modded FZR600 I also had at the time. It was quickly replaced with a brand new R6.
I'm not rich enough to buy new bikes now but I have a pair of F3's and have tried numerous ways to make them handle and have yet to get them to match the FZR on a track let alone get anywhere near an R6. The CBR's do have more mid range than other 600's but the advantage is nowhere near enough to overcome the Yamaha's handling and CBR's are the only 600 I've nearly high sided in the dry when on the limit.
The only bike that could truly beat an R6 when it came out was an R1, I was in that crowd that bought the newer, better models as they were released right up to the ZX10R (which I still own) and the GSXR1000 K5.
If you race on the road rider skill might make up the difference between an R6 and CBR600F as the F's handling faults are not as obvious, but on a track a standard F will have no chance regardless of age.
Despite me putting the CBR down it is the better bike, one of mine had 42000 miles on the clock and runs sweet as, never even heard of an R6 making it to that mileage.

A lot of it depends on the rider's ability. Seeing as how you're both new to riding, it's impossible to say. What is possible to say with high certainty, however, is that an accident is coming up in the near future. Please be safe, ride slow, be aware, and don't race unless it's on a professional track with full gear.
