Not enough coolant

Now don't quote me as I'm not 100% sure on the factory levels but my F2 takes about the same to fill. So either mines broke too or your coolant volume is fine. If the bike heats up while sitting in traffic I would be looking at the fan. They seem to stuff out often enough to look there first. Run your bike, when she get hot you should hear the fan kick in. If not, first check to see if you've got power to it. If there's power then replace the sensor which you can get for under $15 on ebay postage included. If there's no power check fuse, if that's ok follow wire to find loose connection / break. I'm gusseing it's the sensor, if not that, then the fan motor itself.
Ohh yeah drill and re tap for the reserve tank.
Hopefully this tid bit of info can help you out

That's why whenever I do a coolant flush and I know there's just water left I check the total coolant capacity in my manual and add 100% pure antifreeze equal to 1/2 of the total capacity. Then I add distilled water until it is full. The final result is a 50-50 mix.

Thanks folks.
The radiator fan switch stopped working a while ago so I installed a manual switch until I could get a new one. Then suddenly it started working automatically again and has been working ever since.
When I refilled with coolant I followed the Haynes instructions, blipped the throttle up to 5-6000 rpm a few times and filled to the neck.
Also fitted a new thermostat recently which may have a lower opening temperature.
If there's always some fluid left, I guess it's OK.
So I'll stop worrying.

Good subject matter and a memory jogger !
I remember I had a post in here way back on a thermo switch cross reference with
some of those having a lower trip temp. Might have been a Subaru switch - hmm
must hunt it down.
edit:
Correction it was a Nissan Pulsar
Here it is and of course needless to say my 93 commuter still has a manual switch
5 years later guess I lost my old to do list
