Default How to lift bike?

This may seem like a dumb question but....
I was wondering if anyone knew how to lift the 1000's? =)

I bought a lift from harbor freight http://www.harborfreight.com/1500-lb...lift-2792.html
And I realize most things I seen were a bit creative, putting blocks of wood under oil pan, lifting it up from ceiling (Sprock) lol, but has anyone used a lift like this? Does the exhaust have to come off or would it support the weight of the bike?

Thanks! =)

Sorry guys I should've told you what I was planning on doing lol.
I need to take off my front forks and triple, so I suppose I'm going to have to take off the exhaust, darn.

Ouch indiana, did you get that stand like that? :S

Yeah.... unfortunately paddock stands won't do anything for removing forks (although I have a set of cheap ones and haven't had any bending issues. Depends a lot on which ones you get, I guess)

Ryan, I'd suggest using a jack under the motor with a block of wood. I've done it several times. However, I'd also have the bike strapped, too, for extra security. You don't want that big girl going down.

1 Don't lift it on the exhausts
2 As Trout says, a block of wood under the sump.
You only have to lift the bike enough to take the weight off the front wheel.
Remove the wheel, then the forks. Not too difficult, but good to have someone to hold the bike up straight for insurance.

+ 3 ........ block of wood ... I use a hoist sometimes only cuz it's there & the
previous owner worked for the power utility 20 ft joists / rafters , 12 foot garage doors
were factored into the garage for the on call utility trucks

You'll see with the front forks up and wheel off .....it can become a balancing act !
Strap it up or down from falling over ! no matter how you are lifting it
