Default Forks for '90 CBr1000F

Hey guys, I was in an accident a few weeks ago on my '90 1000F. I need to replace the forks.

I found a few on ebay, but before I buy anything I am worried that different years will have different forks. My bike is a 90, what years will have the same front end?

Thanks for any info!

-Jack

hi
try to find one from " l " on up
the tubes will all be the same
the slider may vary a littie due to the front mudguard changing from the long covered model to the shorty model with subsequent hole position changes
there are many on various e bay sites germany is good
have fun paul

Question

You should be able to use an 89, 90, or the 91 those are the Gen II.

As Sprock says- 93 and later bikes have linked brakes and thus different calipers.

Thanks a lot guys! I am missing my bike and really need to get it back on the road. I didn't want to order one set of forks only to find out I bought the wrong parts!

Much appreciated,

Jack

Hey guys, based on what everyone told me here.. and my own research, I bought this set of forks on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...S%3A1123#rpdId If you look you'll see the one fork leg is different from the other. One side matched my '90 correctly.. the other does not and the forks are both slightly longer. Did this guy sell me forks from a different CBR or a different bike entirely? I'm either going to sell them again on ebay or get a refund from the seller. They clearly are not forks for a '90 as he advertised. If I decide to sell them again I'd like to get the right info in this time!

Think you answered your own question man and they do looked mismatched ...bummer

Ebay can be a crapshoot sometimes, seen many CBRIKF parts totally mislabeled
plenty of times ....you really can't trust some of these bike part peddlers to know
exactly what it is they are selling a lot of the time !

When in doubt ...... wait and keep looking, is best option....imo

Edit :

Just saw an identical pair like yours on Ebay ....... Guess what ....they're for an 87-88 !
Think that's what you have man !

...>>>

Here's a set .....ask for more pics to be certain

Yeah I went out in the garage and looked at my 'Cane. Then went to the basement and looked at the other two forks I have. Yep, you have 87-88.

Thanks guys, I contacted the seller and he's insisting them came off a 1990 CBR .. however I have a '90 CBR in the garage and the damaged forks I have do not match these. I'm wondering if I can use the tubes off these ones and the lower sections off the forks I have, only the tubes were damaged on mine. These forks are a bit longer though. Thanks for all the help! I miss my bike, need to get it back on the road!
