does anyone know a safe process that won't harm the white underneath? or do you have to re-spray a clear coath once you remove the sticker?

Yup, the only stripes on the whole bike that are actuall cleared coated over are the ones on the tank, go figure. I'm going to be sanding my tank down Wednesday probably for some paint. fun fun.

Yeah I asked this awhile back... I'm still trying to find a method that will save me from painting the tank with some matched paint : /

What you're considering is a relatively big job: Removing a sticker that's already underneath the clearcoat.

Any way you look at it, you must respray the tank with clearcoat again if you wanna do it right.

I'd say you could try and sand the clear right down to the offending sticker and try to pull it up with some heat, blend the clear down, wet sandand respray clear. Very tedious and costly if you're not careful.

Have you asked some body shops for any tips? Show up with tank in hand and ask.

^^ +1. It's not that expensive to have a tank painted at a shop. (usually around the $100 mark if you already have it sanded down). Take the tank to a shop and ask how much just to spray it if you do all the sanding and prep work.
