Default Tires

I bought my bike last year and put about 3500 miles on it. I just recently bought new rims and had them put on and after having them balanced the guy who did it said that there was a plug in my tire. I had no idea and rode the hell out of it last year. I had the bike up to 120 and never knew about the plug. The guys at the shop told me that you should only ride with a pluged tire at a low speed and a short distance. Was wondering if anybody had any ideas about that cause right now i dont have the money to buy a new tire and i really want to ride. Any feedback would be good.
Thanks
Chris

its definitely not a great idea to ride on a plugged tire, the best that can be said is that it might not blow out on you (MIGHT NOT)
what tires are you running and i'm guessing its the rear?

Please be careful with that back tire. I've heard horror stories of a tire going out because of a plug.

make sure to replace it with the same tire, mixing tread patterns is a bad idea
check on ebay for a used one or buy a set of race take-offs on ebay for less than your dealer would charge you for 1 tire
