Discontinued Carburetor Parts Help
Hi all,
I'm brand new to this forum, so forgive me if this has already been answered. I searched and could not find any answers.
I am the original owner of my 97 F3 and the joints in the carburetor are leaking. I had it looked at a few years ago by a local shop and they said they fixed it, but it turns out they did not. They just packed the connections with some kind of grease. It's been leaking again, so a good friend is fixing it for me.
However, the joints are discontinued and he would like to replace them. Has anyone had any luck finding a replacement for these? I looked around and could not find the exact part. I even called Partzilla and they had no luck.
Am I going to have these fabricated?
Joint Set 16024-MAL-600
Thank you in advance for any help provided.
Joe

Thanks for asking. I mentioned the same thing to my mechanic and he said since the parts are so old he would like to replace them. I may just end up having to go with new O rings.

He has a point because at some time, the plastic will fail. But finding something new may be a chore. The o-rings are pretty cheap though and will likely get you back on the road.

I've seen the T's get brittle with age. They last until you attempt to remove them or something like that then they can crack. I don't know if it's important or not but I've always used o-rings that are fuel rated. Given the use case, it seems like it can't hurt. I've used the OEM ones as well as well as ones from Harbor Freight with no noticeable difference. I purchased a large set of assorted sizes from there for around $10.00. They sell both metric and ASE.

Lol - I bought this set about 20 years ago, and still have 90% remaining except the few I used for my carb rebuild and a couple for a diving regulator - but ONE day I'll need a special sized o-ring and will have one to hand.
