Default 04 to 05 outer clutch basket

New member here, can anyone confirm if the 03-04 CBR600RR outer clutch basket is compatible with 05-06 CBR600RR? I finally tracked down a rattle/buzz noise to the outer baskets springs being sloppy loose on my 2005 .. but 05-06 outer baskets are no longer available..

They have the same part number so should be compatible.

According to Partzilla, both are discontinued… bummer.. part numbers are slightly different that’s why ai was trying to figure out, Is it just a superseded part number which happens commonly, but are they identical, except the last three digits of both numbers. I guess it doesn’t matter, used is the only option.

Good spot, didn't notice the 'D'
CSML normally indicates superseded parts and also 'used on other models'
https://www.cmsnl.com/en-gb/honda-cb...patible-models
In this instance it does not state that they are compatible, so it does not look like it unfortunately.
Yep looks like it is used for you...

I have done a bit more research and 'captain google' and many other sites indicate that the last 3 digits are revisions to the part, so 'might' be ok

A typical Honda part number breaks down as follows:

1. Part Type & Function (The First 5 Digits)
These five digits identify the specific component category or system. [1, 2]
  • Example:
    Code:
    15410
    designates an oil filter,
    Code:
    28300
    is for a kickstarter, and
    Code:
    44301
    relates to an axle.
  • If the first five numbers match between two different bikes, the part is highly likely to be identical or interchangeable, which is a great tip for finding replacements.
2. The Model/Engineering Code (The Middle 3 Digits)
This section (often containing letters) indicates the original model or vehicle series the part was developed for. [1, 2]
  • Example:
    Code:
    KPH
    might indicate a CB125F, while
    Code:
    MEB
    represents a CRF450.
  • Note: Many older, universal parts (like general seals or fasteners) were originally designed for early models but are shared across dozens of different bikes.
3. Revision or Color Code (The Last 3-4 Digits/Letters)
This portion signifies modifications, different suppliers, or specific colorways.
