Default CBR600F3 versus 900cc engine swop

Hi All,
I’m new to this forum and own a beautiful 600F3. I have a few questions regarding fitting a 900cc engine to the 600F3 chassis.
Has anyone fitted any of the CBR900 engine to an F3 chassis?
What model engine is compatible to the F3?
Whats involved in the conversion?
What are the drawbacks of such a conversation?

Thanks in advance for any information.
Paul M.

nothing will fit - you'll have to weld all your own mounts. You'll need 900cc loom and console.

Anything is possible (a friend of mine once fitted an Ariel Leader engine into a Honda CB160 frame) but some things are just not worth doing.

Hi Paul, having built around 5 cbr6/9s the best engine to use is the early one with out the throttle position sensor on the carbs, you would use the same 600 loom as the ecu plugs straight in, if you want soem fun you can run the 600 ecu (not my recommendation) as it revs higher than the 900 ecu, few lugs to cut of and reweld on in slightly different places but not difficult if you have a welder, my advice would be to make some 8 or 10mmm plates that go down the sides of the engine locking the rear side mounts to the front ones as on the 900 engine the front ones are not designed as load bearing and as we have found out through the first ones built it ends up snapping the front mount of which opens up the water jacket, won't do this if you make some plates to make the mounts ridged front to back (I may even have some templates lying around somehwere) well worth doing great fun to ride.
This was the last one I built, proper sleeper

Very nice looking bike, you definitely could not tell what was lurking under the fairing. great job.
