tire choice?
im sure this subject has been beat to death but i really am a bike tire noob.
I had a Diablo Corsa blow out on me today, need replacements asap. I cant find Pilot Power's anywhere but I want a sticky tire. I am going to CMP next month so I don't want to go cheap on tire choice as far as quality and stickiness goes. Any suggestions? I was thinking Dunlop Q2's? I've run Metzler's before, sweet tires but so pricey. I can get good deals on Q2's right now. $235 shipped for a set |
im riding a 954rr by the way

What I run on my 954, and I've tracked it from time to time. PP 2CT's, $241 shipped.

tireexpress.com may be able to get me those tuesday. I'm calling here shortly

I called everywhere. Some shops say that these Michelins may be back ordered through December. I went ahead and ordered the Q2's. I was told they would be here by Tuesday morning. Got them for 230 shipped. not too bad

any tire designated for ocassional track days will be fine. i think a lot of people put too much emphasis. I ran a track day with pilot road 2's and did fine. i had to back off a little but that was kinda fun actually feeling the limit. the edges were all eaten up but they did the job. grab what you can and remember it's all in the wrist.

A couple of track schools are using these exclusively now. |
I'm using Qualifiers on the street, but on my track bike I swear by Ntec 211's. GPA 209's aren't bad either.
I run 190's on my F4 only...will never go back to the 180. |

Preference is preference tho. Whatever works best for you. |
I'm a little late to the conversation but I really like the B-Stones 016's for the street and track. Nice handling in the rain as well.
As for the sizes, I usually stay with stock. Compacc.com or jakewilson.com usually gives decent bundle prices. |
