well if youre serious about wanting to learn to ride on the track then do exactly that.... there are a few books that can teach you the proper techniques, but its kinda hard to read and ride ya know what i mean lol. so just go find some buddies who race, get you a full track suit and appropriate trakc stuff for yourt bike and just ride ride ride

Twist of the Wrist 2 is very good. Read it thorougly, then re-read it right before you head to the track. But there's no substitute for experience. Have you thought of doing a track school? It's well worth the money, especially if you've never had professional instruction.

I found these quick articles on Sport Rider basic but a good start. They are all the common things you should watch out for, after a few track days I realized how many "bad" things I did, and they really helped me get a bit faster

Keith Code's books are a great place to start. I feel that some street time, then at least one book, then track is a safe bet....I'd recommend a track day or two before diving into racing.

Code's approach is more than just technique...its an entire state of mind and understanding.

That said, when you get to the track for a track day...take advantage of the control riders...they won'tapproach you...you must approach them and ask for help.

pick up a copy of Roadracing World's Trackday Guide and Directory (look a couple threads down in this section) and go do a trackday, books are good for theory but nothing beats experience complimented by some advice from control riders at a trackday
