First track day this past Friday! Rode the Summit Main circuit @ Summit Point, WV. Weather was a sunny 95 F but tolerable, as humidity was low and I had a 10 lb bag of ice to cuddle with between sessions! I stayed hydrated but still felt like a piece of beef jerky by the end of the day... lol.

After the first session, I followed a coach and hit all my marks at what was, according to him, a fast novice pace. Very pleased with that! Upon switching positions, my impatience came out and I focused more on "going fast" than staying smooth and on line, i.e. I botched my dreams of being able to move up a group, even though I was faster than all but a few others in our group. Still, got good constructive criticism and took it with me on the remaining sessions of the day.

Other notes:

1. The Michelin CT2's held up well although they were rough looking by the end. I'll be running them again in a week!

2. Pics by the wife at one of the fastest turns showed my body positioning a little improved from my first track day last year. Gotta work on that flexibility!

3. The bike ran very hot the last few sessions (around 210 while on track) but, given the heat of the day, I'm assuming that's nothing to worry about.

4. I left feeling I'd made tangible improvements and need to constantly remind myself that staying smooth WILL equal going fast. Gotta squelch the urge to ride right behind slower riders.

5. A BMW S1000RR, no matter how slow the rider takes the corners (and OMG was he slow!) is effing bananas on the straights...
