i have NO problem getting my 06' 600 RR up in 2nd or 3rd at any time.... 2nd is around 40mph (personal preference) and 3rd usualy around 60 (once again a personal preference)
i have no idea howhigh i rev it i just listen....btw my bike is bone STOCK, doesn't even have frame sliders or flush mounts
a helpfull hit for those learning to bring it up in 3rd on stock sprockets start out learning with less than 1/4 tank of gas, the less gas the easier the front comes up

don't wear any gear while you're at it, and replace all the bolts with zip-ties
DON'T BE AN IDIOT.
1st off there is no way to know when you're at 1/4 gas.
2nd of all, if you get high enough, the gas will not reach the pump, and u will mousetrap, not pretty.
lastly, GO OUT AND PRACTICE!

when i first started learning 3rd gear's i did it with about a gallon (when the gas gauge starts flashing) and yes it i got it high enough it would start to die a little, but it was much easier to get it up when still learning the technique.... but as u learn u can start doing it with more gas and not have to worry about it... and with 1/4 it won't start to die untill i'm after my BP
and like dirty said practice is the only way to get in down good
