Toe dragging
Lately I've been wearing construction boots while riding (Chippewa's), I've been dragging toe in some of the steeper leans, anybody else had this occur? The first time it freaked me out, but I just got used to it and adjusted my speed/lean angle to remedy this. I'm a size 11 boot by the way.

Yeah I rock my work boots while I ride, size 9 Carolina's and I haven't had that problem. My feet naturally point outwards a little while standing and riding so I try to correct whichever foot is on the lean side. I guess I don't lean that far though, the only part on my rear tire that hasn't been used is about 1/4 of an inch on either side. I guess that makes all the difference haha.

It's why higher end track boots have replaceable toe sliders. I'd recommend looking into getting a decent set of riding boots. Sounds like you've out-ridden non-riding boots.

I'd be willing to bet that your foot placement is garbage and this has nothing to do with racing boots, how far you're leaned over or anything else.
Do you ride with the peg in the middle of your sole? If so, that's not where it should be. You should be on the balls of your feet when they're on the pegs. http://www.motorcycle.com/images/con...howdown_01.jpg Although this bike has rear sets, you can see that his toes on the leaning side are no where even close to the ground. Just adjust your foot position. |
Get some real riding boots and always stay on your toes.

+1 , I'm a big boot too so I generally ride the balls of my feet on the pegs !
Want to avoid the boot getting dragged under the peg which in extreme circumstances can turn very catastrophic indeed. Looking at some CyclePirates 360 degree adjustable pegs atm |
Wow am i glad I read this. I most likely would have ridden on the arch of my foot. what is the diff between ball and arc

ball of your foot is just behind where your toes all meet, before you drop into the arch.
