Have found the safest way (short of fitting a steering damper) is to back off slowly and not do anything sharp or savage with any of the controls and she should come out of it. Accelerating or braking can in some instances make it worse!:icon_playing:

when in doubt, flat out. Everytime I get the death wobble on my dirtbike, i go wide open, it takes weight off the front so you can more easily stabilize it

Fit a steering damper.
Slow down, slowly. Don't fight the bars.............

Hmmm... not to take this OT, but I've had a wobble on my bike that wasn't exactly "tank slap". I was slightly leaned over and ran over a crack that ran along the road and all of a sudden my bike got all upright and it felt more like the rear wobbled for a bit. Is this in the same category as "tank slap" even if my handlebars weren't slapping? Also, what should I do in the case this happens again?

Ray, just keep in your mind that - the bike *wants* to go straight. The way the bike got upright for you, is its way of stabilizing itself. Yep, it can be unnerving, but recognize it for what it is & you'll be ok as long as you don't overreact. You want to be in control but don't make jerky movements that add to the problem instead of helping correct it & help you regain control. Try to maneuver out of the crack(s) as best as you can while staying on your line. Think smooth control, not sudden correct.

Hope this helped.
