Group Riding?

I have always been taught to ride in a staggered position while in groups but I always wonder why I dont see many groups doing this. And are there such thing as too many riders in one group?

Depending on state law, in some states, it's illegal to ride side-by-side. Its always a bad idea at speed, it limits your abilty to dodge road hazards.

As long as ALL the members of a group have a clear understanding of this, I don't see a problem with group size (for cruising NOT sport riding).

As the pace increases, so should your seperation and staggering, to allow for each individual's chosen line through the curves.

That said, as with all groups, the collective intelligence of the group goes DOWN as the size of the group increases. So, use YOUR intelligence to judge if there is a hazard involved in the particular situation and whether it is correct or not to continue with the group.
