I hear ya Ray... You'd rather go w/a guy that has a known reputation for quality work...even if it costs a bit more.

My local powder-coating guy charges $50/wheel but he gets most of the local motorcycle parts business. Word of his quality work spreads like wildfire & he keeps a steady stream of work going year-round.

I'm still interested in your RC's transformation. Look forward to seeing how it comes out. :-)

You guys must have some fierce powder-coating competition out there. Over here, even the "I bought this oven and a starter powder kit from harbor freight and I'm pretty sure I can do this" powdercoaters charge over $50 for a wheel. Anyways, rebuilding the mufflers has proven to be a bit more difficult than expected so the going's been tough.

I also bought some ASV levers.

Took some "Monza Red" touch up paint and blinged up the stator cover a bit more:

Yeah, there's pretty large number of powder-coating businesses in 100 mi radius. ;-) They have to keep their prices reasonable & competitive to gain all the business that they can. Like I said tho, I'd gladly pay more for the best work. But, the guys that charge $50/wheel do great work! ;-) BTW, the weather isn't too bad either "out here". ;-)

Your exhaust looks good. Sorry you're had difficulty w/ it.

Nice levers...good stuff.

Keep us posted when you can.

I went into work today so I could press in new wheel bearings and had them resting on this quad and one of the techs pointed out a funny photo op.

But seriously... they look awesome.

Mufflers are done, forgot to grab the stickers, but I can always apply them later. I'm cutting up an older CBR600RR rear hugger to work... gotta drill my swing arm, but meh. Gonna use some plexiglass to make an undertail. Hopefully I'll have a lot of it done over this three day week end coming up!

Some progress.

Made an undertail since I couldn't find anything that I really liked. This setup is pretty simple and doesn't look as "factory" as some of the others out there, but I saw a setup similar to this once on a stunt bike and decided to try it out. Just cut a bit of plexiglass, painted the inside with some black paint and got out the drill. It looks pretty good with the tail on.

Mufflers are fully assembled and on the bike. Also got the powder coated stator cover on. It wasn't as difficult this time around, the first time taking the case off to replace the stator a random gear/cog popped out of the motor and I shat a brick. We'll see how the red paint holds up to the engine heat.

Just a shot of the other side. Got the water pump housing thing on. Thought I could get away with not making a mess of the coolant, but that didn't help. Kinda hard to see in the photo, but I also painted my "overflow" bottle black to make it a bit more inconspicuous.

I shipped my stock throttle cables to Motion Pro to get longer ones made. They only ask like $50 for the set + shipping. I could have made do(due?) with the stock cables, but at full lock to one side I'd feel a bit of tugging so I decided to just get extended ones. I got a special wiring kit so both of my headlights will turn on and turning on high beans will actuate both headlight shutters. Even though I understand why Honda does it like they do, I don't like having one headlight for low and one headlight for highs.

There's still plenty of stuff I want to do to this bike, but I'm gonna push it off until next winter. The only thing left to do this winter is a custom dyno tune and ride it for the season. Once my cables are back, I'll have her put back together for some "Stage 2" pictures.
