I have a dead fuel pump on my 95, now I want to get in the garage and take a look and see if my pump has the same issue. Thanks for the information!

Truly a masterpiece tutorial. Great work. One question... How do you know the pump has failed as opposed to the "points", or do you simply replace the switch/points as a precaution with the replacement pump?

Strange... I've run up 97,000 miles in 3 years commuting daily from S. Osceola County to Orlando and never had any problems like this. One rectifier, one battery, pretty close to 25 sets of tires , a dozen chains, a clutch and a worn out CCT at 85,000. Any chance a faulty moisture cover contributed to these failures?

Thanks, and that's a good question. I would make my decision based on what the pump does. The pump is a simple plunger, coil of wire and diaphram. If it pumps anything at all, then I'd say that those components are working. Well, at least if they appear to be moving freely anyway. I'd also look at the condition and size of the contacts themselves. These one's were significanly smaller than the new ones.
