I was told it was from some year 900rr... can anyone confirm or deny this?

Yes, a '99 900RR. Guaranteed to fit 98-99, and may fit 96-97. The front bolt lip has two holes to match the frame for 96-99, but only one on 93-95. I have no idea if the fuel lines match 96-97...
