You could have taken a bore-out small block and put less that the same amount of money they put into that into cams and a fuel system and what not and ran a high 6 low 7.

yeah, I call BS on that one too... Shep is running I4 with a GT42 turbo and has spent at least 200k on that trailer queen.
Now if you build your own custom aluminum frame, drop an F4i engine and turbo it correctly with 6.5" slicks, you could do 9's, possibly 8's easily for 6500. If you don't believe me, start looking up SAE formula competitions. But they scream in auto-crossing.
